I was watching X-Men The Last Stand last night and during the part where Professor X is showing the students the video of Moira McTaggert talking about the ethical ramifications of transferring someone else’s consciousness into the mind of a comatose individual when I realised she was being played by Olivia Williams.  Olivia Williams also played Adelle Dewitt in Dollhouse, a TV show about wiping peoples brains and giving them the mind and memories of another person.

I think people like this should get the fuck over themselves.  People can like a band without knowing all of their songs.  They are allowed to enjoy whatever song they want to.  Music is not about who knows the most songs.  Music is about enjoying what you are listening to, even if it is not the bands entire back catalogue.  People have different music tastes, perhaps YFW was more to their taste and they don’t enjoy DE, TDAGARIM & Daisy.  They have every right to do that.  It’s their choice, not yours.  How about you appreciate the fact that they know some of the songs they know and we can all enjoy those songs together.  I think most bands would be disgusted that their fans abuse and derogate other fans for not being as big a fan as themselves.  Just because they don’t have every single song, have not been to every single concert, does not have every single t-shirt and other band merchandise, and does not spend every single waking minute of their lives listening to the band does not mean that they are not fans.  How about we just enjoy the music and not be assholes to each other??

I may not be the biggest Brand New fan in the world.  I may not be able to attend most of their concerts or know every little thing about each of the members.  And maybe I didn’t start listening to them until after TDAGARIM came out but that does not mean that I am not a fan.  And that does not mean that I can’t look forward to coming home and just listening to them for hours on end while browsing Tumblr to see if anyone has posted any new fan art or concert pictures.  And maybe, if a lyric hits me at some moment because of its relevance or innate perfection, I am allowed to post it, no matter what song it is from.
